Life is full of change. The one certainty in life is that there is no certainty! Things are constantly in flux. We wake up each day with an idea in our heads of how that day will go. We may even have a schedule written out or recorded on our phone. But, life likes to throw us curve balls and keep us on our toes, doesn’t it? Our well-laid plans can go to pieces pretty quickly. It only takes one phone call to turn our lives upside down.
Life Changes that May Create the Need for Home Health Care
Chronic Illness
One of the changes that life brings may involve a loved one and their need for care. This may be an elderly parent, a spouse, or even a child. Sometimes we are aware that the time for continual care is fast approaching. If a parent has had a chronic illness or is showing signs of dementia or Alzheimer’s, then we may have time to prepare ourselves a bit for the upcoming changes, even though we don’t fully know what to expect.
Major Injury
But, what about a car accident, getting hurt on the job, or a combat injury? These are things that may happen in a moment’s time…that life-altering phone call. The good news is that you don’t have to figure out the next steps on your own. There are plenty of people who have been through what you are going through as well as people trained to help you during these major life transitions.
Services that Help People Adjust to Change
Center for Counseling and Rational Solutions
When life’s circumstances change it can be a difficult adjustment. You don’t have to go through that adjustment alone. We would like to encourage you to reach out to the Center for Counseling and Rational Solutions. CRS for Life handles a wide array of situations. They are trained to help you deal with whatever life transition you are facing. You may need to talk to someone about your new role as a caregiver. Your children may need to talk to someone about losing a beloved grandparent to Alzheimer’s.
Mediation Services
CRS also offers mediation services. These can really be a blessing when your family members may be at odds as to how to care for an ailing family member. One may wish to put them into a care home, one may wish to allow the loved one to stay in their own home, and another may wish to bring the loved one to stay with them. A mediator can help you work through the emotions involved and set aside those emotions that aren’t helpful in the situation. They can help all of you to clearly see the situation and come to an agreement that will truly be the best for your ailing loved one.
